A structural approach to graph transformation based on symmetric Petri nets

چکیده

Graph Transformation Systems (GTS) and Petri Nets (PN) are two central, theoretically sound, formal models for concurrent or distributed systems. A lot of papers have focused on the relationship between GTS PN. It is generally accepted that PN instances due to lack ability adapt reconfigure their structure. In this paper, which extends a recent one, we reverse perspective by presenting definition in terms Symmetric (SN). SN standard High-Level formalism featuring compact syntax highlights behavioral symmetries The major strength lies possibility using well-established tools edit/efficiently analyze (SN-based) graph transformation models. We follow structural approach, based newly implemented symbolic calculus, validate Rules (GTR) formally verify properties. second part supply semantic characterization SN-based model, carrying out thorough comparison with classical, algebraic double-pushout (DPO) approach. constructively show how translate any DPO rule corresponding, elementary composite, rule. treat both injective non-injective rules/rule matches. shows approach is, some sense, generalization DPO.

A Fuzzy Approach to Sequential Failure Analysis Using Petri nets

In highly competitive industrial market, the concept of failure analysis is an unavoidable fact in complex industrial systems. Reliability of such systems not only depends on the reliability of each element of these systems, but also depends on occurrence of sequence of failures. In this paper, a novel approach to sequential failure analysis is proposed which is based upon fuzzy logic and the c...

4 th International Workshop on Petri Nets and Graph Transformation

Preface PNGT 2010 is the fourth workshop of a series that serves as a forum for all researchers and practitioners interested in an exchange of ideas, notions, techniques between the fields of Petri nets and graph transformations, two prominent specification formalisms of concurrent and distributed systems. It belongs to the folklore that Petri nets can be seen as rewriting systems over (multi)s...

Symmetric Stochastic Petri Nets

The stochastic Petri net (SPN) model is well suited to formal representation of concurrency, synchronization, and communication. In this paper we focus on discrete event simulation methods for SPN models with special structure and define a symmetric SPN. Exploiting properties of a symmetric SPN and underlying regenerative process structure, we establish steady state estimation procedures based ...

Simulation and Animation of Visual Models of Embedded Systems A Graph-Transformation-Based Approach Applied to Petri Nets

Behavior specification techniques like Petri nets provide a visual description of software and embedded systems as basis for behavior validation by simulation. Graph transformation systems can be used as a unifying formal approach to define various visual behavior modeling languages including different kinds of Petri nets, activity diagrams, Statecharts etc., and to provide models with an opera...

On the use of Algebraic Petri Nets for Software Product Lines Specification: a Graph Transformation Based Approach

A Software Product Line is a set of software products that share a number of core properties but also differ in others. The variants of a Software Product Line are defined and implemented in terms of features, which are subsequently combined in specific ways to obtain the final software products. In this context, formal modelling is critical for managing the inherent complexity of systems with ...
